  • As someone that had aspirations to be a journalist when I was in school, this is one of the most enjoyable parts of my job. I love working with journalists and content creators to generate coverage for a client. I’ve developed strong relationships with media locally, nationally, and across specialist sector titles. Because of the fragmentation of media and the sheer number of different ways people access news/information today, media relations is more than just sending out a news release - it’s about developing a suite of content that works for specific platforms and their audience.

I’ve secured coverage for my clients in traditional media outlets (print, broadcast and online) as well as other channels and platforms including social media, podcasts and on-demand services.

  • There’s a lot more to PR than just media relations. Having worked in PR/comms for over two decades, I’ve developed a strong understanding of the importance of messaging and the need to tailor it to specific audiences. By utilising the full range of PR tactics across paid, earned, owned, and shared media, I’ve supported clients through complex change management, crisis situations, and stakeholder engagement, helping them protect and strengthen their brands and reputations.

  • Over the past 25 years I have drafted, implemented and evaluated hundreds of different communications campaigns - from the cultural programme in Newcastle upon Tyne during the Rugby World Cup to the re-brand of the region’s business support platform, North East Growth Hub. Each one begins with understanding the aims and objectives, followed by exploring the tactics that will resonate best with the target audience and inspire action. Central to each campaign is measurement and evaluation so future campaigns can be refined based on actual results.

  • I work with a number of talented photographers and videographers that can support a wide range of projects across any sector.

  • Again, working with some talented colleagues, I can provide expert support with SEO to improve website ranking and domain authority, along with targeted paid social media campaigns to drive action on your website.

  • I work with visual communicators to help bring content to life - everything from social media graphics and marketing collateral through to websites and publications. I can also signpost you to experienced practitioners that can develop full brand identities.
